Many of the downtown Johannesburg Scenes
belong to a time long past, in the era of the previous South African
government. The look of the city is totally different today. The
stark scenes of architecture and order is replaced by a sea of thriving humanity
and street vendors selling shoes, vegetables and other commodities.
Many of the buildings will never be the same as is depicted in
this little archive of history. Some of these buildings today are gone,
and others feature a lack of
street level windows and much damage and degradation.
More urban scenes (Cityscapes) can be seen
in the American Scenes page (American).
